TNDC Celebrity Pool Toss 2008

By: Doug Hahn

Annual supporters of the Tenderloin Neighborhood Development’s annual Celebrity Pool Toss, Christopher and Amber Marie escaped this year without taking the plunge… unlike last year. Instead, they participated as MC’s for this extraordinary event to announce their good friend Glenn McCoy, director of the San Francisco Ballet who made a splash to help support this much needed cause.

Held poolside at the Phoenix Hotel on October 7th, 2008, TNDC’s 16th Annual Celebrity Pool Toss raised $278,000 for our Tenderloin After-School Program and families helped by TNDC’s housing and social services… making it the highest grossing fundraiser in the event’s history!

The Tenderloin District got its name from the days when police were paid more to work it’s rough streets, enabling officers to buy better cuts of meat. Thanks to organizations like the TNDC, much is improving for the quality of life of hundreds of families throughout San Francisco’s varied Tenderloin without gentrifying the unique flavor or historic spirit. Bently Holdings is a strong supporter of TNDC, helping make one of San Francisco’s culturally rich neighborhoods safe and enjoyable for those in need.
